Planting Seeds: What’s Growing in You?

I’ve always been a deep thinker, and I truly believe it was my genuine curiosity and desire to understand the human experience that led me to the field of counseling. I love connecting the natural with the emotional, and this time of year reminds me just how closely the two are tied.
In July, many fruits and vegetables come into season, and one I look forward to every year is cherries. Here in North Carolina, this seems to be the perfect time to enjoy them. But I’ll admit I never think about when they were first planted. That part goes unnoticed by most of us… except the gardeners.
And yet, without someone deciding to plant those seeds, there would be no harvest to enjoy.

The Same is True in Our Lives
Emotionally and spiritually, seeds are being planted in us all the time. Sometimes we’re intentional; planting hope, peace, discipline, and joy. But other times, things like worry, fear, and doubt take root without us realizing it.
Just like the cherries I wait for in July, those invisible seeds eventually bear fruit. And the fruit of anxiety, bitterness, or insecurity can knock us off our feet if we’re not paying attention.

Mid-Year Check-In: What’s Been Planted in You?
As we reach the halfway point of the year, I want to gently encourage you to reflect:
What seeds have been planted in your heart; intentionally or unknowingly?
Are you growing things that serve your healing and wholeness?
Or are you carrying seeds of resentment, comparison, or exhaustion that you never meant to water?
⸻
Uproot What Doesn’t Belong
The good news? With God’s help, we can uproot the seeds that no longer serve us. You don’t have to keep harvesting bitterness just because it was planted.
You can make a new choice today.
Choose to sow faith. Choose to water peace.
Choose to plant what aligns with your healing and your purpose.
⸻
This month, plant with intention.
Because come harvest time, you’ll either reap from what healed you, or what hindered you.
